Donna Jean Petersen, age 67, passed peacefully on September 11, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends. Donna was born October 22, 1954 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in Humboldt, Iowa and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1973.

Donna dated her future husband Terry Petersen in high school and they were married on March 16, 1984. They enjoyed many happily married years while living in Des Moines, Iowa. Donna worked as a secretary for GuideOne Insurance and the State of Iowa Finance Department, and also was a sales consultant for Longaberger.

Donna enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Donna was enthusiastic about collecting cookbooks, and Longaberger baskets. She made trips to the Longaberger factory in Dresden, Ohio, where she was given the opportunity to fabricate her own basket. Donna had a sincere, easy going nature, which translated into many lifelong friendships.

Donna loved her family unconditionally, and was happiest when spending time with them. Donna is survived by her husband; four children: Ryan, Melissa, Ashlee, and Joey; siblings: Susie (Jeff) Hanna, and Donald and Jerry Breeden; and grandchildren: Mark, Chase, Lexee West, and Bodee Flickinger.

A memorial service to celebrate Donna’s life was held September 22, 2022 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E. Euclid Ave., Des Moines. Interment of her cremated remains will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
