Lynne Allen Funeral services to celebrate the life of Lynne S. Allen, 57, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 - 18th St., Bettendorf. Burial will take place at St. Ann's Cemetery, Long Grove. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. There will be an additional visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Surrounded by family, Lynne passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. Lynne Suzanne Carlson was born on Jan. 1, 1955, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of R. Wesley and Lola (Mimbach) Carlson. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in business administration. Lynne was united in marriage to Andrew Allen on July 1, 2011. She was previously married to Jeffrey Duffy on Dec. 20, 1975. Lynne worked for the North Scott Community School District as an administrative assistant to business affairs. Prior to that, she was the parish administrative assistant at St. Ann's in Long Grove. Lynne loved being with her family, especially spending time with her young grandchildren. She enjoyed walking, running, biking, and other outdoor activities. Lynne was active with various school activities and booster clubs at North Scott Community High School. She enjoyed the friendship of many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Lynne is survived by her husband, Andrew, Bettendorf; children and their spouses, Jann and Matt Robie, Ankeny, Iowa, Erin and Matt Horst, Statesboro, Ga., and Matt Duffy, Eldridge, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Kristin Allen, Eldridge, Iowa; grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas, and Jackson Robie, Mallory, Creighton, and Brant Horst; her parents, R. Wesley and Lola Carlson, Humboldt, Iowa; brothers: Terry (Pert) Carlson of California, Tom (Tina) Carlson of Wisconsin, and Todd (Sara) Carlson, Iowa; mother-in-law, LaVerne Klima of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Andrea (Mike) Mann, Ill., and Carol Schobert of North Carolina, and her loving extended family. Lynne was my favorite friend -- I miss her so much.  She was my Rock throughout the years and my strength when my mother passed away in March 2011.  I will always treasure her friendship.
