            Philip N. Carlson, 49, of Bode, passed away Dec. 27, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.  Services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at the Humboldt County Fair Grounds with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating.  Visitation will be before and after the services.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is entrusted with the arrangements.

            Mr. Carlson is survived by his loving companion, Cheryl Willey of Bode; his mother Mary Louise Carlson of Humboldt; children, Peter John Carlson of Lincoln, Neb., Michael Philip Carlson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Amy Marie Carlson of Fort Dodge; brothers, Timothy Carlson and his wife Shirley, and Curtis Carlson, both of Humboldt, and Randall Carlson and his wife JoLynn of West Liberty; and his niece and nephews, Jennifer, Roger, Brian, Cody and Clinton.  He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Carlson, and his sister, Priscilla Carlson.

            Philip Neil Carlson, the son of Earl and Mary Louise (Thompson) Carlson, was born Dec. 31, 1954, at Fort Dodge.  He was raised and educated at Humboldt graduating from Humboldt High School in 1973.  Following his education, Phil was employed with W & H Co-op, Yacht Club Trailers, and Sande Construction.  In 1982, Phil established the Unicorn, which he owned and operated in downtown Humboldt until 1999.  He then became employed by the Chantland Company.

            Phil was an active 19-year member of ABATE of Iowa holding the positions of MRF Officer, District 10 Assistant Coordinator, Parade Coordinator and Assistant Toy Run Coordinator.  Phil was proud of his participation in the parade in Milwaukee honoring Harley Davidson’s 100th Anniversary and his 15-year consecutive trips to Sturgis.  He also enjoyed helping his brother with his farming operations.
